How LeafNut works

A central web server (TrunkNode) controls the system and communicates by GSM mobile phone to BranchNodes.

BranchNodes are street light mounted cluster control units that manage, and are in continuous wireless communication with up to 256 leaf nodes within a 1km radius.

A LeafNode is a ballast control unit linked directly to an electronic ballast in each street light. When LeafNut enabled, the system provides the street light monitoring, switching and dimming control.

Information from each LeafNode is relayed to the TrunkNode providing an accurate inventory of streetlights and their operation.
