Leafnut's Proven Benefits

Energy

Through the ability to control the operation of each LeafNode, by managing the power consumption, substantial savings in energy can be achieved totalling £25 a year per street lighting column*

Carbon emission savings

100 kilos of carbon emissions per column per year can be saved by using an electronic ballast (without dimming) which equates to a UK saving of 377,000 tonnes per year, if all the UK's streetlights used electronic ballast control.

Monitoring and Control

Management of information passing between the LeafNut enabled electronic ballast and the central server means that users can:

  • Identify lamp problems in advance
  • Identify lamp on/off/end of lamp life issues
  • Get early warning of high lamp hours and high lamp voltage
  • Predict lamp failure
  • Create maintenance routines which include lamp replacement prior to failure - avoiding the need for unnecessary bulk lamp changes

Installation

Each LeafNode is designed to fit through a 20mm hole, the same required by a mini photo cell and:

  • Is easy to install
  • Is powered from the ballast
  • Has no separate wiring or power supply

Scalability

LeafNut's modular design provides support for small installations, small car parks for example, while providing the simple expansion to systems supporting city wide schemes of 100,000 lights and beyond.

Wireless operation

  • Prodived flexibility, there is no need to install new control wiring to the luminaire
  • Communication with the equipment is wireless rather than powerline modem

Retrofit

LeafNut can be applied to new build situations but can be easily and simply retrofitted to replace existing copper iron ballasts
